Dyna Software now includes source control management with its GuardRails governance platform, giving ServiceNow development teams tools for code review, deployment approvals, rollback and activity traceability within the platform.
The company said GuardRails with Source Control Management is available immediately through the ServiceNow Store and directly from Dyna Software. The update allows for regulated organizations to document who reviewed changes, what changed and how code moved into production. Source control is common in conventional software engineering, where teams use it to track revisions, compare changes and require peer review before code is deployed. ServiceNow teams can face a similar need as custom applications, configurations and integrations accumulate, particularly when multiple developers and administrators work in the same environment.
According to Dyna Software, GuardRails evaluates custom code, applications, configurations, integrations and releases for compliance and platform risk throughout the ServiceNow development lifecycle. The company said the latest update extends that governance model to code history and promotion decisions, rather than applying review only after a change has reached production.
For teams responsible for regulated workflows, the relevant issue is not only version history but accountability. Dyna Software says the SCM capability supports segregation of duties and provides traceability from code review through deployment. Dyna Software said its new capability provides a Git-like workflow inside ServiceNow rather than requiring teams to rely on separate source control tools. The feature set includes pull requests, peer-based code reviews, inline comments and deployment gates that require review before changes enter a CI/CD pipeline. It also includes rollback functions and automated environment reconciliation and synchronization, according to the company.

One practical issue the update addresses is the difficulty of reviewing ServiceNow changes through XML payload comparisons. The company says its interface is intended to put code reviews and approvals into the same deployment process, giving teams a clearer record of decisions leading to a production release.
The company is also adding an AI assistant for ServiceNow development. Dyna Software said the assistant can identify potential problems during code review and offer one-click recommendations involving formatting, linting and JavaScript practices. It will operate on customer-controlled infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or AWS, the company said, and is separate from ServiceNow Now Assist.
That distinction may matter to public-sector and other regulated IT organizations evaluating how AI-assisted development fits into existing governance processes. As more code and configuration work is generated or assisted by AI tools, agencies will still need a documented human review process before changes reach production systems.
