Simplesense and Digital Force Technologies have received a $3.4 million Air Force award to integrate a sensor-fusion platform into an installation-resilience prototype, combining counter-drone and base-security information in a common operational view. The companies said the work is being deployed at an Air Force installation and will support its Base Defense Operations Center.
The project joins Digital Force Technologies’ SeraphimOS platform with Simplesense’s Installation Resilience Operations Command & Control, or IROC, prototype. Its stated purpose is to consolidate separate video, sensor, radar and intrusion-detection feeds into one dashboard, giving operators a more complete picture when they must assess potential threats and make decisions quickly.
That is a practical problem for military installations. Security, facilities and mission-support personnel can rely on distinct systems that produce separate alerts and views of the same incident. A drone sighting near a perimeter, for example, may require an operator to reconcile video, radar and other information before deciding whether it is a threat. The companies say the integration will reduce that fragmentation and help accelerate the observe, orient, decide and act cycle used in operations.
SeraphimOS is the technical element focused on combining sensor inputs. According to Digital Force Technologies, it can fuse data from multiple sensors, assess threats and send localized alerts in disconnected or degraded environments. The company describes the system as applicable to counter-unmanned aircraft operations, base defense, portable surveillance and vehicle-mounted sensing. The release does not provide independent performance measurements, the identity of the installation, or technical details such as the sensors being connected and the system’s rules for automated threat assessment.
Simplesense’s Resilience Core supplies the installation-operations context. The company said that its platform gives operators a consolidated view of infrastructure conditions and emerging risks, and that it is already deployed under a contract that is expanding to five additional Air Force, Space Force and Army installations. The new award is intended to show that SeraphimOS can be integrated rapidly within that environment and could provide a repeatable approach for other locations.
The Air Force deployment is a confirmed government use case, not simply a vendor illustration. A potential extension would be an installation operations center using the same common view to correlate an uncrewed aircraft alert with a perimeter alarm, nearby camera feed and local infrastructure conditions before dispatching personnel. Whether an agency adopts that model will depend on its existing command-and-control systems, network resiliency requirements, sensor inventory and authorities for responding to drone activity.
For government technology leaders, the significance is less about a single dashboard than about whether disparate operational technology can be connected without replacing every underlying system. The announcement describes a prototype and does not disclose the deployment schedule, integration costs beyond the award or operational results. Those details will matter as the companies seek to scale the approach across installations.
Still, the award points to a clear defense-technology priority: bringing data from physical-security and mission-support systems together early enough to improve the human decision process. If the integration performs as described, it could give base-defense teams a more usable operating picture during time-sensitive incidents while preserving the need for trained operators and local response procedures.
